5 Reasons it is Totally OK to Date Someone Older

Everyone reads about it, talks about it, gossips about it, and often times even tries it themselves. So if that’s the case, why do we make such a big deal about dating someone older? Maybe it just makes for a good tabloid story? Who knows. Regardless, it’s definitely not a big deal if you find yourself in a relationship with an age gap, and here’s 5 reasons why…
5. Age is just a number
Truly, it is. What’s the difference between 27 and 32? Our answer is five years. That’s it. There are always people who criticize men and women who date older men and women for no reason. In most cases, those people haven’t tried it out. Do you glare at the youngish, blue-eyed, blonde-haired girl on the arm of a 40-something businessman? Do you wonder how he sees anything in someone that couldn’t possibly have any brains? If you answered yes, you’re one of those people. That’s fine but frankly, we think you should try it out and then see how you feel.
4. Instant maturity
Maturity in terms of life experiences tends to come with age because, well, older people have lived longer than younger people. Duh, right? But really, hanging out with someone older can leave a lasting effect. Their life experiences become yours and their acquired knowledge becomes shared. Enough of the sappy stuff, already!
3. A fountain of knowledge…in bed
This is where dating older can get raunchy awesome! The older you get, the more sex you are likely to have had. The older you get, the better (and more creative) you get. Never heard of the catapult? Date someone older and find out for yourself. You’re welcome in advance.
2. You might just feel like the big man on campus
Remember in high school when Susie the freshman dated Bobby the senior? Or when Jimmy the sophomore dated Claire the junior? They were cool. Everyone wanted to know what Jimmy had that they didn’t. Senior girls want to know what Bobby saw in that freshman, Susie. It’s stupid and selfish but it’s true. Dating older is exhilarating in an “exploring new territory” kind of way. So, explore away! We promise it will be fun and that your chest might just puff out a little further than before.
1. Because it just shouldn’t matter
Helllooooooo people and welcome to the year 2010. We don’t discriminate against gender, sexual orientation, race, or religion. Why should we discriminate against age? Black or white, man or woman, 37 or 58? It’s all the same to us.
