5 Reasons Why It’s Awesome To Be Single
So, you’re a twenty-something expert at dodging the whole “When are YOU settling down?” question, but have you ever wondered why you have to answer that? What if you just don’t find it necessary right now? Pressures from not only society, but family and friends make it hard to justify you r reasoning that you just like being single. Or maybe you went through a bad break-up that made you realize that maybe you need to take a break from the dating scene for a while. Whatever the case, if you’re single and need a way to accept it, this list is for you!
5) Being single means you have nothing to tie you down:
You have nobody to answer to when you want to be yourself. A lot of times being in a relationship means your identity is found within that person. Stepping away and being single for a while may lead you to find your true identity away from that person that is your “other half” and become your own whole.
4) Starting a new hobby is a great way to find your passion for something:
Maybe you’ve always wanted to try painting, or write your own novel, but never had time or the inspiration to do so. Who knows, maybe starting up sewing your own clothes can turn into a new business venture and jumpstart a career you never dreamed of having!
3) Re-discover your friends:
Everyone has that person in their group of friends that always has to check in with their girl, or make sure their boy knows that they are going somewhere, god forbid, without them! There is nothing more annoying than having a night out with your girlfriends, and having her boyfriend tag along. So get back into your circle of friends that were there before you started dating and let them know that the old you is back! Identifying with a group of people with similar interests can make you feel more comforted in knowing it’s okay to be on your own.
2) You can save more money:
As petty as it sounds, it’s true. Think back to when you were dating someone, how many times did you fork out your check card for dinner, or see something in the store that you knew they would just love? And as people get deeper into relationships, they find themselves more comfortable, making them more vulnerable, and that can include financially. So use the extra money to remodel your bathroom, or go on that trip you’ve been talking about for ages.
1) If you’re young, you have time:
A lot of people see their lives incomplete until they’ve settled down and popped out a couple kids. But if you’re in the prime of your life, why stop to do that when there is so much time left! Don’t rush into something just because your mom wants grandkids, or your taxes are cheaper when you’re married. Things happen in their own time. Enjoy the wait and make the most of life rather than making your into what everyone else thinks it should be.
