So you’re out at the bar chatting it up with some people and flirting here and there.  You see an extremely attractive person having a drink at the bar and you instantly aim your eyes for their left ring finger.  It’s something we all do – checking for a person’s marital status.

No ring = single

Yes ring = taken,engaged, or divorced.

It’s like the real world version of Facebook’s “martial status” except a lot more simple. Or should we say was more simple.  Recently a new type of ring has been popping up in jewelry stores and is complicating the simplicity of the left ring finger.  This new ring is simply called… “The Divorce Ring”.

The idea is simple and we get it.  Your marriage didn’t go full circle so neither does your ring.

It makes sense but we can’t help and wonder why you need to go out and buy a $500 ring just to advertise that you’re single.  You can easily wear no ring at all and send the same message.  Aside from that, when glancing at someone’s finger from a distance (which most people do so they don’t get caught), the gap won’t be noticed and people will assume it’s a wedding ring….which is the complete opposite message that you’re trying to convey.

So here at Leftos, we say no to the divorce ring.  Seems like a worthless item with no real need.  Tell us what you think though.  Do you think the concept is good? If so, why?
