Dos and Don’ts of Facebook: Creeper Edition

So, not many of us would contest to the generalized assumption that when we have free time, we are constantly checking our favorite social network, Facebook! It’s a great way to find out what long lost friends are doing, what current friends are up to, or most importantly, what the person you’ve been crushing on is doing.  Or maybe you’ve gone off the deep end, constantly refreshing your newsfeed to find out what is going on so much your computer freezes! Well look no further, you don’t need to go to that addiction counselor for your social network obsession (even though it’s oh-so trendy these days), just keep these dos and don’ts in mind when logging on to your  oh so precious Facebook account.

Don’t: Do the creepy “Hi” message.

Everyone has logged on to Facebook and saw that they had a message in their inbox. Confused, you click on it only to find it is some creepy guy with a head-on webcam shot as his profile picture with teeth gleaming almost as much as his premature balding head is. You have no clue who this is, and have no interest in talking to him.  DON’T BE THIS GUY! Although you may think you’re being flirty and cute, messaging a random hottie on Facebook not only shows that you can’t do this in person, but that you’re automatically a creep-o.

DO:  Try Human Interaction.

If Facebook is the only “balls” you have, this may be a problem. Everyone knows that you can type anything without receiving a backlash right away. Don’t use Facebook to conquer a serious enemy, or breakup with your boyfriend or girlfriend. It’s just better to chat about these things face to face, like normal adults. And it’s always more sincere when you speak face to face.

Don’t:  Overload The Newsfeed.

It’s so easy to just put your thoughts on to Facebook. It even asks you, “What’s on your mind?” Tempting, right? WRONG. Don’t be that person who comments on everything, likes everything, is all over the wall of every friend. It’s irritating to see the same person on your newsfeed! Text your friends if you want to ask them a question, hell CALL THEM! Facebook isn’t the only way to get at your friends, which leads us to…
